The goal of DANCEWORKS berlin is to provide young dancers with a comprehensive education program which develops their physical and artistic abilities, and enables them to achieve the highest professional standard of Modern Dance.

Our highly qualified international faculty use a wide range of styles and techniques. There is a strong emphasis based upon the most significant Modern dance techniques such as Merce Cunningham, Martha Graham, Lester Horton and José Limón.  Contemporary Dance styles including Release Technique and Contact Improvisation also play an important role in the program.

During the 3 year education program performances are held regularly. Guest choreographers as well as teachers in house create works on the students. The students are also given the opportuninty to create and perform their own pieces.

The program is divided into six semesters and takes three years to complete.  Exams are given in theoretical and practical subject matter at the end of each semester. Each student gets a report card twice a year. The program ends with a final exam. In addition to their regular classes, students also have the possibility to participate in all open classes at no additional cost. Holidays are scheduled to coincide with Berlin school holidays, but do not exceed 62 days within a school year. The tuition fees you can find here.

DANCEWORKS berlin is a fully accredited vocational school in accordance with paragraph 9a of the Berlin code for private schools. Our students have the opportunity to apply for financial aid in accordance with the Federal Education and Trainings Assistance Act (BaföG).

If you are interested in the 3 year dance education program in Modern Dance, your application form and a successful audition are required in order to be accepted. Auditions are held several times per year. Transfer students are always welcome if they pass the audition. The school year begins on October 1st.
The next auditions will be held (on Saturdays):

• 24th April 2010 at 12.00 noon
  
• 5th   June 2010 at 12.00 noon
  
• 3rd July 2010 at 12.00 noon

The audition fee is 30 Euros. Even if you decide on short notice to take part in the audition and  have not registered to apply you are welcome to attend the audition providing you bring all required information (application form) with you.
